The road to pleasure is paved with great sex, and The Lesbian Goddess is your chauffeur with her newest novel, LESBIAN FUNK:  A JOURNEY INTO THE OBLIVION.

The third installment of the Orchids series is narrated by Kaili as she discovers what makes her tick through a roller-coaster orgasmic journey. In each episode, her hidden fantasies become real, those desires she never thought would surface. Her first adventure involves a woman, and Kaili is bewildered by what this means. Coming from a failed, sexless marriage to being seduced by a woman – her therapist, nonetheless – leaves her gloriously spent but confused.

Following this, Kaili changes venue and relocates to Arizona. She thought leaving everything behind would suppress her lesbian tendencies, yet moving only magnifies her problems; she ends up in more relations with women, each exploit more captivating and hotter than the last. Kaili can’t believe what has become of herself; it’s as if she’s someone else.

And it’s somewhat true. Throughout her romps, Kaili is led by an unknown female voice taunting her psyche, there from the initial affair with her therapist. Who is this mysterious spirit directing inner-most desires, telling her how and where to get off? That’s what Kaili wants to know, and her search guides her to a sexual height she’s never known.

The Lesbian Goddess is known for her poetic raunchiness, an erotic wordsmith who’s not afraid to go there. Just like her previous collections, Lesbian Funk is no different. It paints a vivid picture of a woman enjoying the pleasures of the female form, and celebrates it through prose and poetry, the latter introducing each chapter. While the metaphysical aspect of the book may throw some readers, it’s unlike anything you’ve read before.

After all, everyone has a sexual alter ego. Sasha Fierce, anyone?

Review of Lesbian Funk

by Lisa Joyner of Swerve Magazine, June 2009

Kimberly Q's Orchids III-Lesbian Funk is defined by the author as "that uninterrupted, uncontained sex that releases your restrictions, opens the door to your freak and leaves your state of being lost, numb, ore, needing, wanting and fiending for more." Ms. Q never lied. This book should be read with a nice glass of Shiraz in hand and Jill Scott on low volume in the background; solo, with our sweetie, or if you dare to go there, as a group. However you decide to delve into this erotic world of reality versus fantasy, be prepared to blush, glance over your shoulder (making sure no one is looking), and, at times, squirm in your seat. I, on occasion, was so thrown by the intense and very graphic levels of description that I had to call my sweetie and share certain segments. In the midst of all the raw, mind-blowing sex is a well thought-out and nicely written story. Kaili Michelle Blithesome, who has had some major disappointments, is in search of...whatever thing it is that one may search for when life gives them shit. Her journey begins with her sharing her family experiences as child; the story then moves into adulthood. It is after Kaili's divorce that she begins her quest for self, which puts her in several interesting positions. In all, Kaili encounters seven episodes with women that may elicit in readers an array of sensations: shock, confusion, amusement, sympathy, understanding, voyeurism, and horniness (can't forget that one). Lesbian Funk is erotica in its truest form. Throughout the book, Kimberly Q transports readers on numerous orgasmic rides. You will find yourself shifting in your skirt, pants or any other article of clothing. Those who smoke will toke on a cigarette in the afterglow of calm. I did at times find the transitions from the story line to poetry a bit daunting, akin to a mountain climber who has reached the summit only to tumble down a few feet, regain footing, and begin the climb again. However, I did appreciate the poem "Yearning" by Trescha aka T. Love, which fit perfectly with Kaili's adventures. This book created within me a desire to try my hand at documenting every detail of a sexcapade or intimate moment. Though it would be great fun, I am almost certain I would miss many of the details that Kimberly Q not only captures but has mastered in her writing. As a reader my attention was held and the ride was like one I have never taken. If you are in search of sensual literature to satisfy your carnal desires, let Lesbian Funk come to the rescue.

Review of Lesbian Funk

Rating 4 stars out of 5

Kaili awakens her sexual desires while being unaware of how and where this awakening occurs. She is taken on a sexual roller coaster in which she is being led by an unknown force in which she soon finds out how this force is connected to her while on wild, sexual escapades.

I liked the fact that each section/chapter of the book had a poem that introduced the next situation that was about to take place. The poems were very vivid and detailed which of course set the mood for what was about to happen next. This made me want to keep reading and wanting more. It was easy to relate to in a way for every reader regardless of sexual preference because we all have that hidden `side' that we all fall victim to. That inner part is always waiting to be awakened by that chosen person or force!

I didn't like the fact that the conversations throughout the book weren't separated by each characters statement. Since everything was run together I sometimes had to reread certain areas to make sure I understood who was making a statement at that time.

I enjoy reading this authors books and always look forward for her latest creations. I see her growth with every novel she releases.

Review of Lesbian Funk by Kuma2.net, May 2009

Lesbian Funk A Journey Into The Oblivion is the third book in the Orchids series. New lesbian erotica from the author known as The Lesbian Goddess (aka Kimberly Q) is always a treat. While Orchids 1 & 2 are collections of short stories, Lesbian Funk follows the adventures of Kaili Michelle Blithesome.

After watching her parents’ marriage crumble and her own attempt at matrimony turn into a disaster, Kaili believes she is finally ready to move on. She has a new job, is moving to a new city, and has one last appointment with her therapist. Just as it seems Kaili has taken control of her life, the foundation she has worked so hard to build gives way. A voice from the past literally reappears:

I knew it was that voice that I’d tucked away. That secret voice that was mine and mine alone. She wasn’t someone or something I ever mentioned in our sessions because it was only one time. I had brushed that episode off as a night of drunken fun.

Guided by–and at times frightened of–this new presence, Kaili’s journey of self-discovery is just beginning. Desires that she has fought to suppress resurface and she finds herself spinning out of control.

You can’t have a sexual awakening without sex and Lesbian Funk is filled with a variety of vivid, highly imaginative sexual encounters. Keep in mind that this is a somewhat reluctant journey. In many scenes, Kaili gives dominion of her body to others–or do they seize it–resulting in scenarios that are both highly charged and unsettling.

Mirroring the first 2 entries in the series, Lesbian Funk is split into seven episodes–each launched by a sensual poem sure to inflame your passions. However, the dialogue is not split into alternating paragraphs. When Kaili is talking to someone else, it can be difficult to keep up with who is speaking to whom.

If you relish the fantasy of being taken, of being the object of affection of a sexual force that will not and can not be denied, Lesbian Funk: A Journey Into the Oblivion is the book for you.

Review
of Orchids II Reality or Fantasy

by Readers with Attitude Bookclub, January 2009

RATING: 4 out of 5

Love in any flavor!

One of the things I enjoy about being a book reviewer for RWA is the fact that I get the chance to review books that sometimes are out of my norm. While the lifestyles that were displayed in this compilation were different than my own I was still able to relate. As I began to read I felt that the author was very successful in regard to keeping my interest intrigued. The author is very well versed in regards to giving vivid details for each sexual escapade. Each erotic episode was completely different which kept me focused and wanting more. The excitement and awe still remained evident during each episode.

The only critique I have is that at times I was unable to differentiate between who was talking as the quotation marks for speaking roles were often missing. Also the book is all of fifty five pages yet priced the same as a full length novel which should be reconsidered.

All in all Orchids II was a quick read that got right to the point and is very enticing. Preceding each episode is photography that gives a sporadic glimpse as to what's to come next.

Review of Orchids II Reality or Fantasy

by Sistahs on the Shelf, March 2008

RATING: 4 out of 5

Can you tell the difference between fantasy and reality?

The Lesbian Goddess straddles the distinction between these realms in ORCHIDS II REALITY OR FANTASY, a short but sweet collection of bonafide bedroom bliss. This second in a series is the sequel to Orchids: African American Lesbian Erotica One Night Stands, and this time it’s every woman’s desires on display.  Ranging from poetic lovemaking to kinky sex shop romps, seven unique stories make up this compilation and every one is well worth the read.

It begins with “Sensual Exploration,” a picturesque, sensory escapade between two very sensual women. Their lovemaking is described in such graphic language that one can visualize the romantic rendezvous with the unnamed women. Then in “Making My Rounds,” a nighttime security guard finds her job to be much more stimulating when she sees a sexy co-worker in a compromising position — with herself. While her job requires her to take action, the voyeur in her can’t resist wanting to join in the festivities.

Everyone has got a certain “Weakness,” and a sexually uninhibited woman Mil meets at a party is hers. The two hit it off, but Weakness wants the sex with no strings attached; the issue is can Mil handle that. And there’s always that special someone you can’t seem to shake, even when it’s over. That’s what an anonymous woman faces when she begins feenin’ for her former lover in “My Ex.” Can she break the hold her ex has over her?

Naughty walks this way in “Get Yo Freak On,” as a stud tries to find just the right sexual items to turn her girl on and gets a very hands-on lesson from the adult store worker. Trust, she leaves there with more than just a bag of goodies. Then a femme turns the tables in “Shangri-La,” taming three seemingly aggressive women with her feminine wiles. It’s all a part of her game and she loves the thrill it gives her to doiminate a stud.

Finally, Natalie takes a first-class plane ride and falls for Vanessa, her flight attendant. Lucky for her, the stewardess pays extra special attention to the stud passenger, and they finally hookup when the other customers have been taken care of. Then Natalie gets more service than she ever expected.

The Lesbian Goddess creates this world of sensual adventures that gets you every time. This was a more enjoyable outing than the previous one, as it seemed the author turned up the heat on this second pleasure trip. Even with only a few pages per story, I was very aroused — and relished it. The tawdry tales are hot and you will enjoy every one of them.

I know my girlfriend did.

Pure imagination and arousal, Kimberly Q. delivers juicy sagas of sex and fantasy in her follow-up to One Night Stands. The heavy use of exclamation points is a slight buzz kill, but the climax of the story makes it all worthwhile.
